UPDATE (1:15 p.m. on May 5, 2024) — Officials have given 13 News more details about the body that was recovered from the Ohio River Sunday morning.
While it has not been confirmed, according to Mason County Emergency Management Director Jeremy Bryant, officials believe the body to be Daniel Higginbotham, who was reported missing in the area on Tuesday. The body was recovered around 8:30 a.m. near the Tu-Endie-Wei State Park by a convergence between the Ohio and Kanawha Rivers.
MASON COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — Police are investigating after the body of a man was recovered from the Ohio River near Point Pleasant Sunday.
According to Mason County Emergency Management Director Jeremy Bryant, officials can not confirm at this time who the deceased person is, but the body has been sent to the West Virginia State Medical Examiners Office for further investigation.
“We want to thank the dog teams, as well as all of our mutual aid departments for their assistance with this response and recovery,” Bryant said.
